Avalanche Lake. The Hard Way.
Why hike to a lake in four miles RT when you can do it in 16.5 instead? Must be a Dave thing.

I try to answer a question that I got asked a LOT this summer. Kinda successfully. Just a little.
A hike up to Grinnell Glacier on a perfect morning with a couple of Buckeyes.
This was a personal best (well, for Glacier). Almost 25 miles in just over 10 hours with a grinding gain/loss of 4,400 feet. This is why I work for $12 an hour.
Waterfalls everywhere. Buy why be bear bait when you don’t have to? At the end of the day, all roads lead to Sun Point.
I take a trip to upper Snyder Lake. Amazing remote for being so close to a very high traffic tourist trail.
Climbing Goat Mtn, Glacier National Park
Great day to climb Mt Reynolds. This time, with a real old friend (not imaginary)
This mountain has pretty much nothing going for it. Not views, not forest, no hanging gardens, or ancient ruins. It is only worth doing if you are climbing Mt Vaught (which you must cross Stanton’s summit to climb).
Climbing summit of Mt Cannon via Logan Pass in Glacier National Park. Not quite how I remembered it.
